You are invited to attend a special YA Summer Reading Program event this Saturday, June 27, from 3:00 - 4:00 PM. Join us for Local Heroes: Police K-9 Unit and learn how the Bellevue Police Department and its specially trained canines help keep our community safe! Come see a demonstration!
Registration is not required. Eligible attendees are the 7th-12th grade and 2015 high school graduates. This event has also been opened up to incoming 5th & 6th graders. Parents of attendees are welcome to attend, but please no siblings younger than the 5th grade.

The Bellya Volunteer SRP Training Meets have been rescheduled from May 9 and May 12 to:
Friday, May 22 • 4:30-5:00 PM
Wednesday, May 27 • 2:30-3:00 PM
Friday, May 29 • 4:00-4:30 PM
Attendance is mandatory for those interested in volunteering at the new sign-up table! These will be short informational sessions--and your opportunity to ask questions and to start signing up for hours!
Please call (Front Desk: 402-293-3157) or come in to register. You must also submit a Bellya volunteer application before attending one of these meets. You may submit one at the meet. (Applications in library and online.)
If none of these dates work for you, please contact Crystal to arrange a separate meet.

The Summer Reading Program finale party, Bellcon, is this Saturday, July 19th, 6:30 - 9:30 PM!
► For those in the 7th - 12th grade! ◄
The featured event is a GLOW PARTY! \(>.<)/ Come dressed in all your neon and/or white things!
You can:
► Get a free glow bracelet!
► Play glow-in-the-dark ring toss and glow Twister!
► Scribble on the glow wall!
► With fluorescent highlighters, draw temporary super-glow tattoos on your arms! (You can also bring a white shirt to decorate!)
► Rock out with video & tabletop gaming! [We might have another TV available, so you may bring a system & games to share! Any consoles not in use may be placed in a secure area.]
► Watch "TRON: Legacy", followed by a hour of DANCING!

► NOM on pizza & snacks!
► Celebrate the awesomeness of summer and, if you participated in the SRP, a job well done!

In 28 days, Summer Reading Program participants have logged 3,255 hours! I think that's worthy of a dance!: \(>.<)/( >.)//\( )\\(.< )\(>.<)/
That's 651 prize slips earned, going toward 20 different finale prize packages! Come in to the library to look at the prize display and--because I couldn't fit all the awesomeness into the glass case--the prize binders which have photos and descriptions of each prize bundle.
It's not too late to sign up for the Spark A Reaction SRP! Remember--you don't need a library card to participate in the logs or events. (But yes, you would need a card to check stuff out.)

Spark A Reaction!
From science to steampunk, from bottle terrariums to pizza book clubs, the summer reading program is your best friend.
=＾● ⋏ ●＾= Now I'm going to tell you something that is completely serious:
It is going to be two months of book-filled, prize-winning, stuff-making, party-time, event awesomeness.
Sign up at the Front Desk! The Bellya SRP is for those going into the 7th - 12th grade--and you don't need a library card to participate.(But to check out materials from the Bellevue Public Library, yes, you'll need membership. How to get one? Look here! ◕‿◕)
This year we'd like to introduce:
Early Registration Week!

Both the children's (infancy-6th grade) and YA SRPs offer this week as a chance to sign up for our reading logs and events before the flurry of graduations, vacations, and holiday closings.
The official commencement is May 27th--start logging your reading at that time!
Brochures and a binder of the 20 prize packages are also at the Front Desk! By week's end, most of the prizes will be in a glass display case near the Bellya area. And a very large, hybrid SRP Tree made entirely out of brown packaging paper (the paper that cradled your new books on their way to the library!) will have spontaneously formed on the back Bellya wall. You will make it bloom! Signing up also gets you a blank leaf--write your name on it (markers are provided) and I will slap it on the--I mean, gently apply it to each delicate "branch." By midsummer, we'll all be able to enjoy a fully mature tree, sans pollen and upkeep.
